Homemade Corn Dogs

This will work with 1/2 a pack of hotdogs. It can also be doubled. I tweaked this recipe from Chef in training.

1/2 cup yellow cornmeal

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1/8 tsp. salt

1/8 tsp. pepper

3 tbsp. sugar (depending on how sweet or not you want them)

2 tsp.baking powder

1 egg

2/3 cups milk

oil for frying

skewers (be sure to get one for each hotdog)

1-In a large bowl, combine cornmeal, flour, salt, pepper, sugar and baking powder.

2-Add milk and egg to the bowl and whisk well.

3-Heat oil in a large pot on stove top until it reaches 350 degrees F.

4-While oil is heating, insert skewers into hotdogs.

5- Dip and roll hotdog skewers into batter until completely covered.

6- Cook 2- 3 hotdogs at a time until golden brown all sides. Drain any excess oil by placing on a paper towel.
